My Day: One Screen for a Field Rep's Whole Day in India

Most field reps in India manage their day across three or four disconnected tools. My Day collapses tasks, follow-ups, and proximity-sorted leads into a single pull-to-refresh screen.

Ask a medical representative in Nagpur how she starts her day. She'll probably describe opening her message thread with the RSM to check pending targets, then switching to a notes app where last week's follow-up reminders live, then pulling up Google Maps to figure out which clinic to visit first. By the time she's standing in front of the first chemist, she's already made a half-dozen micro-decisions across four different surfaces — and the day hasn't properly started.

This is not a Nagpur problem. It's the default state of field sales in India: reps carrying their entire working day in fragments, spread across WhatsApp, personal note-taking apps, a company CRM nobody loves, and their own memory.

The fragmentation tax

The individual switching cost seems small. Two minutes here to find yesterday's reminder, three minutes there to cross-check a lead's address with today's route. But those two-and-three-minute gaps compound quietly across eight to ten field hours, and they carry a hidden cost that doesn't show up on any dashboard: the follow-up that slips because it was buried in a notes app the rep didn't open, the warm lead three kilometres away that never got visited because nobody surfaced it at the right moment.

In FMCG distribution, a PSR running 25–35 outlet calls a day has almost no slack in the day for retrieval work. In pharma, an MR managing 15 doctor visits and 8 chemist stops across a Tier 2 town needs to make routing decisions in real time, often between calls. In BFSI field sales, a DSA rep chasing loan file conversions is managing follow-up urgency and geography simultaneously. The problem is structurally identical across verticals: the day's information is scattered, and the rep pays an attention tax every time they try to assemble it.

What a single screen actually changes

Kinematic shipped My Day in June 2026 as part of the Field Force mobile experience. The design premise is blunt: everything a rep needs to execute today should live on one screen, organised by urgency and proximity, without the rep having to build that picture themselves each morning.

The screen has four working layers.

Tasks with deadlines appear at the top, sorted by due time. Not a flat list of everything assigned — just what needs to happen today. If something is overdue, it surfaces prominently rather than sitting quietly at the bottom of a list where reps stop looking.

Overdue follow-ups are pulled forward before they go cold. This is the part most task apps miss. A follow-up logged on Thursday that nobody acted on by Friday morning is already decaying. A rep who doesn't see it until Monday afternoon has lost the window. My Day surfaces these explicitly, with enough context — who the contact is, what was last said, when the follow-up was due — that the rep doesn't need to go looking for more.

Upcoming activities run in chronological order below that. Meetings, calls, demos, outlet visits — whatever is scheduled comes in sequence, so the rep's mental map of the day is linear, not reconstructed from three different calendars.

Open leads sorted by proximity is the piece that changes routing without making routing a separate task. Leads nearby the rep's current GPS location bubble up automatically. The rep doesn't plan a route; they just see that a warm lead is 1.2 km away in the same market they're already visiting. That's the kind of decision that previously required either a very organised rep or a very active manager — and now it requires neither.

The whole screen refreshes with a pull-to-refresh. No sync button. No logging out and back in. The day updates as the day moves.

Why proximity sorting beats explicit route planning for most reps

There's a version of this problem that enterprise software has tried to solve with dedicated route optimisation modules — full turn-by-turn route planning for field sales, calculated the night before, delivered as a fixed sequence. That approach works well in logistics. For field sales in India, it tends to break because the day doesn't stay fixed.

A chemist is closed because of a bandh. A doctor ran late and pushed the MR's 11am slot to 12:30. A distributor calls at 9am to flag a stock issue that needs to be sorted before lunch. Explicit route plans, optimised for a version of the day that no longer exists by 9:15am, become friction rather than help.

Proximity sorting solves a different problem. It doesn't prescribe the sequence — it simply shows the rep what's geographically rational given where they are right now. The sequence adapts as they move. An MR finishing a clinic visit in Sitabuldi doesn't need to recalculate a route plan; she just looks at which open leads are closest and picks the one with the highest urgency. The intelligence is in the sorting, not in a locked-in sequence.

This is a more honest model of how good field reps actually think. The experienced ones always knew to cluster their day geographically and prioritise by follow-up age. My Day makes that a default, not a skill.

The overdue follow-up problem deserves more attention than it gets

Sales teams talk a lot about pipeline quality and conversion rate. They talk much less about follow-up decay — the quiet erosion of leads that were warm, got followed up once, and then slipped into the middle of a flat task list where nobody sees them until too late.

In field sales specifically, this decay happens fast. A pharma company's MR has a useful window of maybe 48–72 hours after a doctor shows initial interest in a new molecule. A BFSI DSA rep working loan leads knows that a prospect who submitted documents and hasn't been called in four days is probably talking to a competitor. An FMCG ASM who logged a "revisit next week" note on a key account and didn't act on it has handed a shelf opportunity to whoever walks in next.

The pattern is the same: the follow-up was logged in good faith, it sat in a system the rep doesn't check with urgency, and the window closed. My Day's decision to pull overdue follow-ups to the top of the screen — visually distinct, not buried — is a small design choice with a disproportionate effect on this specific failure mode.

One screen, not one tool

It's worth being clear about what My Day is not. It isn't trying to replace the CRM, the order management system, or the distributor secondary reporting layer. It aggregates from those systems — tasks, leads, activities — and presents them in a daily execution view.

This distinction matters because the failure mode of "unified field tools" has usually been attempting to collapse too many workflows into one interface and producing something nobody uses fully. My Day is narrow by design: it is the start-of-day and mid-day view, the thing you open to know what to do next. The deeper workflows live where they should.

The Daily AI Briefing sits at the top of this same screen — the AI-generated summary of what matters most, before the rep starts scrolling tasks. My Day is the structured layer underneath it: the actual queue of things to act on once the briefing has oriented the rep to the day.

Where this fits in how Kinematic thinks about field execution

The thesis behind Kinematic Field Force is that most field execution problems are not motivation problems or training problems — they're information design problems. Reps don't miss follow-ups because they don't care. They miss them because the follow-up was stored somewhere it wasn't surfaced at the moment it needed to be acted on. Leads don't get visited out of sequence because reps are lazy. They get visited that way because nobody showed the rep what was geographically adjacent when the decision moment arrived.

My Day is a direct response to that thesis. The information was always there. The task was making it visible in the right sequence, at the right moment, on a phone that needs to work on a 4G connection in Bilaspur or Bareilly just as well as it does in Bengaluru.

If your field team is managing their day across four different surfaces right now, that's the problem worth solving first. The rest of the sophistication — territory analysis, secondary tracking, distributor reconciliation — compounds on top of a day that's already well-organised. Start with the screen your rep opens at 8:45am.

Teams that switched, tell it better.

Earlier I noted leads in a diary at night and half of them were lost. Now I just speak to Kini AI after each visit — the lead is recorded with the outlet and quantity, scored, and my follow-up is set before I've even left the shop. Nothing slips any more.
